William Daroff, Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Director of the Washington Office, Jewish Federations of North America, testifies before the US House Committee on Homeland Security on Thursday, March 16, 2017. In his remarks, Daroff highlighted the importance of FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program to protect Jewish institutions amidst unprecedented levels of anti-Semitism in recent months and briefed the committee on bomb threats and other acts of anti-Semitism. “Since Sept. 11, non-profits, in general, and Jewish communal institutions, in particular, have been targeted by international terrorist organizations and home grown violent extremists from across the ideological spectrum.” “Since January 1, at least 116 Jewish communal institutions, including community centers, schools, places of worship, and others have received more than 160 bomb threats in 39 states.”<br />
